Just Dooodling…

So I realise it’s been a while since I posted… I really don’t have an excuse other than I haven’t drawn much lately! I’ve started getting back into the swing of illustrating since my art course. I used to take a lot of inspiration from manga art (that’s just how I’ve always drawn!) but was discouraged from it on my course so I haven’t really had the heart to get back into illustrating… But here! I’m playing around with a few different styles at the moment so bear with me, but hopefully I’ll have more posts up soon!

Libra Development Artwork

Here are a few pieces of development work from my Final Major Project about Pseudoscience.  I decided I wanted to create pieces based on astrology containing symbolism and mythology.

The image is based on Libra, the 7th house, and there’s a lot of symbolism here! I started by sketching out my idea on paper before using a graphic marker to go over the outlines. I then scanned the piece into the computer and used Adobe Photoshop to colour and shade.

The scales represent the zodiac sign Libra. The tarot card for Libra is “Justice” so I decided to include references to Justitia, the Roman goddess of justice. She is usually represented wearing a blindfold, laurel crown and carrying scales, so I wanted to include aspects of this into my work.

The body placement is also important as I wanted to draw attention to the lower back as Libra is often associated with the kidneys. I decided to experiment with the galaxy image as the star signs are based on astrology (space and stuff!).

I want to develop this further in the future. I have had very little training in Photoshop, especially not when making my own illustrations, so hopefully I can improve and create more realistic pieces! I’m also pretty out of practise when it comes to drawing so hopefully this will
